At Asphalt Green, community service is at the core of our origin and at the heart of our mission. We are committed to improving the health and fitness of all New Yorkers, regardless of age, ability, or even economics. That is why we operate a variety of programs that allow those who might not have such experiences to share the joys and benefits of sports and fitness for a lifetime. We call these our Community Programs.
Now more than ever, New York City school children are in need of increased physical activity. The latest statistics show that over 40% of K-5th graders are overweight. Even more alarming is the fact that approximately 80% of these children will be overweight as young adults, putting them at high risk to develop a variety of serious diseases.
Below are links to many of our Community Programs that directly address the obesity crisis for thousands of children throughout New York City. You can also scroll down to see where our Programs are making a difference.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! To learn more about how you can help us continue to run these programs and expand them, please contact Maura Greaney, Director of Development, at 646-981-2230 or Mgreaney@asphaltgreen.org. You can also click here to make a donation.
